I was thrilled to learn that I was pregnant and my training went by the wayside. After I delivered my son, I wanted to get back in shape again and began running regularly when he was about 6 months old.When my baby was 9 months, I got pregnant again and, sadly, miscarried on my son's birthday. I was devastated. As a way to cope with the grief and loss, I began running again, only with a fervor I had never possessed before. I ran to deal with the pain. I ran in the rain, crying and healing. I ran through a cemetery by our house and wept. Running helped me recover. Soon I committed myself to running a half-marathon (13.1 miles) the next October.
